Board certified physician assistant, Kristin G. Hoopes, is an important member of the team of clinicians at St. Thomas Sleep Center. Kristin assists Dr. Shapiro, Dr. Weisher and our registered sleep technologist, Tim Beltz, in evaluating adult and pediatric sleep study patients. Kristin has practiced as a licensed physician assistant since 2004. As a physician assistant within the St. Thomas Sleep Center, Kristin participates in comprehensive sleep evaluations by ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests and interpreting their findings. She is also highly experienced at taking detailed medical history information. Patient education is another area on which Kristin focuses. She prepares and procures sleep-related materials and counsels patients about solutions that can help them enjoy higher quality sleep. Kristin attended Brigham Young University where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. Kristin later enrolled in a graduate Physician Assistant Program at George Washington University. Graduating with honors, she earned a Master of Science degree in Health Sciences. Prior to her relocation to St. Thomas, Kristin practiced as a physician assistant at a busy ear, nose and throat practice in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. During her two years with the practice, she gained valuable clinical and practical experience that she will now use in her work with Virgin Islanders. Kristin is enjoying her new home in the Caribbean and looks forward to providing attentive and responsive care to St. Thomas Sleep Center patients. |
